Air Canada Sports Equipment Policy
Effective for travel July 15, 2008
onwards Air Canada requires that all Sports Equipment be
pre-registered with them. Failure to pre-register such
equipment will result in a charge of $100.00 at the
airport. Travellers may take most sports equipment as
their 2nd
piece of checked baggage for a fee of $25.00. Sports
Equipment includes but is not limited to Golf Clubs, Ski
Equipment, and Hockey Bags. Please refer to Air Canada’s
website and go to Information
and Services – Baggage for specific details and rates
Reminder-Air Canada’s New $25 Fee
For Second Checked Bag Takes Effect July 15
Air Canada,
citing rising fuel costs, will charge Tango
and Tango Plus passengers an extra $25 for checking a
second bag effective May 15
for travel on or after July 15, on flights within Canada
and the U.S. including Hawaii. The move puts Air Canada
in line with several U.S. carriers including
Continental, Delta, Northwest, United and US Airways who
made similar announcements last week. Air Canada’s new
policy does not affect Latitude and Executive Class
passengers, or Air Canada Elite, Super Elite and
prestige members or Star Alliance Gold and Silver
members. The baggage allowance for travel to and from
countries other than Canada and the U.S. is also
unchanged.
